Skopje, 12 June 2024 (MIA) – President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova met with the General Secretary of the Council of Europe (CoE), Marija Pejčinović Burić, on the sidelines of the Ukraine Recovery Conference, taking place in Berlin.

Talks focused on the fruitful cooperation with the Council of Europe in the country’s key reforms processes, the mutual high commitment and the projects implemented successfully through the CoE Skopje office in various areas, aimed at fulfilling the Macedonian ambitions to join the EU, said Siljanovska Davkova’s office.

“Referring to the democratic capacities of our institutions, President Siljanovska Davkova noted the efforts made to improve human rights and rule of law, one of the basic preconditions for the progress of the Macedonian society. At the meeting, they stressed the importance of gender equality and the implementation of the Istanbul Convention,” said the press release.

The two interlocutors also discussed the European perspective of the region and the country’s important contribution to securing peace and stability in Europe.
