President Siljanovska Davkova extends New Year's greetings of peace and European future

Skopje, 31 December 2025 (MIA) - I wish the New Year to be a time of breakthrough towards a lasting global peace, supported by international law and international institutions, for us to find a home in the European Union so that we live in rule of law, democracy, economic prosperity and healthy environment, says President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova in her greeting on Wednesday.

"I wish each and every one of you - children, youth, all citizens - a Happy New Year," says President Siljanovska Davkova in the greeting.

The President goes back to the main events in 2025, a year of dramatic change in international order, unthinkable wars and many victims, increased militarization and rising climate, environmental and energy crises, with the added challenge of marginalized international institutions and suspenson of international law.

On the country's foreign policy, Siljanovska Davkova says it followed European security and political standards, positioning itself as a "visible and respected partner" on the international scene, whereas the Euro-integration process was focused on meeting the Copenhagen criteria.

In domestic developments, the President says 2025 was a year when key processes were launched.

"A year of judiciary reforms, fighting corruption and crime, creating a national development strategy, establishing new strategic partnerships, infrastructure offensive, long-term settlement of the energy issue, cooperation with the diaspora," says Siljanovska Davkova.

She referred to the Kochani tragedy as the most difficult moment for all citizens, noting the pain will remain forever, while adding that the task of the state and the society is to never forget the families of the perished and injured, but also to ensure that justice is done.

"Their unmeasurable sacrifice must make us better people and create a political and legal system that will not allow new innocent victims," says Siljanovska Davkova.
