Skopje, 20 July 2024 (MIA) — President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova received representatives of Macedonian associations in Albania at a meeting in Ohrid, according to an official press release.
Meeting participants included Edmond Temelko, Spiro Malevski and Eleonora Mazenkovski from the Prespa organization for the protection of the rights of Macedonians in Albania, Besnik Hasani from Most, Mehmed Hoxha from Gora, Pandi Jani from Mala Prespa, and Pande Simonovski from Tirana.
They spoke with President Siljanovska Davkova about their current activities focused on the protection and affirmation of the Macedonian language, culture and traditions in Albania.
Siljanovska Davkova welcomed their contribution to the continuous improvement of Macedonian-Albanian relations.
They also spoke about the results of Albania's latest census and their dissatisfaction with the results.
"Emphasizing the respect for the ethnic, religious, linguistic and identity affiliation of minorities as a fundamental European value, President Siljanovska Davkova highlighted the importance of a census to always, without exception, reflect reality," the press release says.
The meeting was also attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski, VMRO-DPMNE MP Rashela Mizrahi, and former ambassador to Albania Vele Trpeski. mr/
