President Pendarovski to pay working visit to Bulgaria
Skopje, 30 September 2022 (MIA) - After being invited by Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, President Stevo Pendarovski will travel to Sofia on Saturday to attend a ceremony marking the start of commercial operations of the Greece - Bulgaria gas interconnector.
Held at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia, the ceremony will be attended by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă, and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
President Pendarovski is scheduled to meet with his Bulgarian counterpart Rumen Radev and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, his office said.
The Greece - Bulgaria gas interconnector (IGB) connects the natural gas transportation network from the Greek town of Komotni to the vicinity of Stara Zagora in Bulgaria. The project aims at providing diversification, not only of routes but also of natural gas sources for Bulgaria and the wider region.
Also, President Pendarovski is due to lay wreaths at the site of a bus crash on Struma highway, where 45 Macedonian citizens died on November 23, 2021.
