Skopje, 24 December 2021 (MIA) – President Stevo Pendarovski awarded at a ceremony Friday the architects Filip Koneski and Danica Spasevska with the annual prize for architecture for designing a kindergarten in Skopje’s Volkovo. “Oftentimes, Macedonian architects are facing additional challenges – demands by investors, the appetites of the urban mafia and in recent history, having to fulfill ludicrous ideological and political demands,” Pendarovski told the event. He noted that architects should be allowed to meet the primary goal of architecture – to enrich space as well as the lives of people. “As a community, we are responsible to contribute to creative freedom and professional integrity of the Macedonian architects,” said President Pendarovski. The annual awarding ceremony is organized by the Association of Architects of Macedonia with President Pendarovski acting as a patron of the annual event.
