Skopje, 18 September 2023 (MIA) – On the sidelines of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, President Stevo Pendarovski met the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Monday in New York.

According to Pendarovski's Office, they discussed the bilateral cooperation between North Macedonia and Germany, the country's European perspective and current developments in the region.

President Pendarovski briefed Scholz on the progress of country’s EU accession negotiations.

Pendarovski expressed gratitude for the principled support and commitment from Germany, as one of our closest allies, and voiced expectation for further strong support from the German authorities in the process of accession negotiations, pointing out that the acceleration of the EU integration processes is in the interest of the political, security and economic stability of the entire region.
