Skopje, 8 June 2024 (MIA) — The Skopje Primary Public Prosecutor's Office has nominated Emilija Mizo Dimkov public prosecutor for monitoring hate crime and discrimination cases.

According to a PPO press release, she was nominated based on the conclusions of a May 20 meeting held with non-governmental sector representatives.

The nomination was at the initiative of Skopje's Queer Center, an association offering support and advocacy to the LGBTI+ community in North Macedonia.

Also formed will be a network of non-governmental organizations for closer cooperation between the civil sector and the PPO in handling hate crimes and discrimination, with the support of the Council of Europe.

The nominated public prosecutor will have the authority to monitor case proceedings and establish contact with plaintiffs and non-governmental organizations that represent the interests of the injured parties in these cases, the release says. mr/
