PPO: All suspects linked to M-NAV case detained

Skopje, 18 January 2024 (MIA) -  The Skopje-based Public Prosecutor's Office said Thursday that all eight suspects involved in the M-NAV events of Jan. 4 have been detained.

"In addition to the five people we previously informed about, a proposal was submitted to order detention for three more people. A pre-trial judge ordered house arrest for two of the suspects, against which the prosecutor's office has already filed an appeal, while for the third suspect, the Court's decision is expected following a proposal of the competent prosecutor," the Public Prosecutor's Office said in a press release.

Four people were detained following the M-NAV attack, including advisor at M-NAV Bekim Neziri. The court ordered precautionary measures, but after an appeal from the Prosecutor's Office, the Criminal Council changed the order to house arrest. A fifth suspect was arrested later and ordered 30-day detention.

The attack happened on Jan. 4 after Trade Union of Air Traffic Controllers leader Aleksandar Tasevski told a press conference that twenty to thirty air traffic controllers and their assistants working for M-NAV would start resigning from their management positions in response to the latest job announcement in this institution.

The Public Prosecutor's Office opened investigation against eight people suspected of the criminal offense - threatening air traffic security.
