Skopje, 5 February 2026 (MIA) - The Interior Ministry said late Thursday it is conducting activities at locations in Skopje and Strumica targeting narcotics in coordination with the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecuting Organized Crime and Corruption.
The Ministry said it would announce more details after the end of the police operation.
Some media outlets in the country reported that police carried out raids in several locations in Strumica and the wider Strumica area, as well as in Skopje on Wednesday night. A number of vans, along with several trucks and police vehicles entered the premises of the former OHIS industrial complex in Skopje on Thursday afternoon, where a police operation has been underway since Wednesday evening.

In an interview with national broadcaster MRT on Thursday, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski responded to a question about the seizure of five tons of marijuana in Serbia allegedly originating from North Macedonia, stating that the Interior Ministry is expected to soon present details about a confiscation of dozens of tons of drugs found to have been illegally distributed or stored.
“I expect the Interior Ministry in the coming days to reveal not just a few tons, but dozens of tons of such prohibited substances, in this case marijuana, that are currently in warehouses in Macedonia, or that have been involved in dealings between certain legal entities, both within the country and abroad, which have been determined to be illegally placed on the market and illegally stored,” Mickoski stressed,
