Skopje, 26 June 2022 (MIA)– Police officers from the Bogorodica police station arrested on Saturday two people from Bitola on suspicion of migrant smuggling. Upon search of a “Citroen Jumper” vehicle with Prilep register plates along the Gevgelija-Demir Kapija highway near the Udovo village, police officers found 24 migrants, including 12 from Pakistan, five from Syria, five from India, and two from Afghanistan, the Ministry of Interior said in a press release. In coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Corruption the migrants were taken to the Reception-Transit Center in the city of Gevgelija. After completion of the paperwork for the case, charges against the two detained persons will be filed accordingly.
