Skopje, 28 July 2021 (MIA) – Police officers on Wednesday performed searches at a total of 20 locations in the capital, during which they arrested 12 people from Skopje, most of whom in their twenties and thirties, and are currently searching for three more members of the group. They, the Ministry of Interior said in a press release, discovered and ceased from the arrest cites drugs, ammunition, two guns, vehicles (of which one bulletproof), a large sum of money in domestic and foreign currency, phones, computer equipment, etc. The detained individuals will be handed over to the relevant public prosecutor's office. After months-long investigation, the department against organized and serious crime and the department for special police operations, under the authority of a public prosecutor from the public prosecutor's office for organized crime and corruption, carried out a coordinated operation to bust members of a Skopje crime group. Members of the organized crime group, the release added, were involved for a long period of time in production and sale of narcotics, psychotropic substances and precursors, punishable under article 215 of the Criminal Code, as well as unauthorized production, possession, mediation and exchanges in firearms, ammunition and explosive materials, punishable under Article 396 of the Criminal Code. Several sales of drugs and weapons, the press release stressed, were documented during the investigation.
