Skopje, 10 January 2024 (MIA) - SDSM has already launched the procedure for nomination of possible presidential candidates in party offices nationwide, said Prime Minister and SDSM leader Dimitar Kovachevski on Wednesday.

Asked by reporters if SDSM would support President Stevo Pendarovski for a second term, PM Kovachevski said the incumbent head of state has been doing a great job but did not speculate over the candidate for the coming elections.

"I have said on several occasions that all candidates have the same starting position in the race, as stipulated in the SDSM statute. When it comes to Pendarovski, he is doing a great job, he has stuck to the values shared by coalition partners that supported his candidacy. He has been a staunch supporter of the country's Euro-integration and treated all citizens equally. This is all I can say at the moment and cannot speculate who will be the candidate, because this would be unethical and unappreciative," noted Kovachevski.

President Pendarovski told a TV interview yesterday that he would announce his decision about his intention to run for a second term in the second half of February.
