Skopje, 3 January 2026 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski says he expects the new Chief Prosecutor to stand on the side of justice.

"We did not want to be like previous governments and change prosecutors but gave the Chief Prosecutor a chance to show his best. After a year and a half, the former prosecutor elected by the former authorities is in the past and a call for the election of a new one has been scheduled. I encourage all those who meet the requirements to apply and I expect the best to be elected," says PM Mickoski told Vecer.mk.

According to him, if the Chief Prosecutor stands on the side of justice, all those who violate the law will be sanctioned.

"Fight against crime and corruption is a three-layered process that includes an investigation, an indictment and a trial, with the prosecutor as the link between the investigation and the court proceedings," says Mickoski.
