PM Mickoski doesn't know who can guarantee that Negotiating Framework would not be blocked through bilateralization

PM Mickoski doesn't know who can guarantee that Negotiating Framework would not be blocked through bilateralization

Skopje, 29 November 2024 (MIA) – The Government cannot and will not do more than this. This is our red line. If someone in Brussels has decided they want to be held hostage to politicians from the Middle Ages, coming from EU member-states, if they decided to be held hostage to bilateralization, then so be it. They should let us do our homework, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski on Friday.

PM Mickoski was quizzed by reporters about the messages coming from Brussels regarding guarantees that the Negotiating Framework would not be blocked through bilateralization.

“I don’t know who the one to give these guarantees is. The only guarantee is the one we made before our strategic partners and this is the maximum we can do. No one has ever done what we as a nation and state have done until now,” said Mickoski.

Нема што повеќе од ова да правиме. Ние како Влада повеќе од ова не можеме да направиме, ниту ќе направиме. Тоа е тоа. Тоа е нашата црвена линија. Ако некој таму во Брисел одлучил да биде зало

The PM noted that the country has fully aligned its policies with the EU and added, “we are not a threat, we will completely follow these policies.”

“They lead, we follow. If they think we do not deserve to join the European family according to the merit principle, not considering bilateral issues and ones from the Middle Ages, this is their right,” said Mickoski.

He said the Government is ready to talk to anyone, anytime, anywhere.

“If they are not ready now, we will wait when they are. In the meantime, they should let us do our homework, implement projects, raise salaries and pensions, attract foreign investors, work on reforms, bring justice. This is our homework, to work with honor and commitment for the citizens. If they have decided to follow politicians from the Middle Ages, people coming from EU member-states, they can do that. We will follow the citizens’ requests,” said Mickoski.

The PM said he would meet the new EU Council President in Brussels on December 3.
