Skopje, 1 October 2024 (MIA) – The government’s September 30 deadline ended, unfortunately, we didn’t receive any concrete proposal on how our judicial system should be reformed. That’s why today we’re kickstarting reforms in the Macedonian judicial system because Macedonia no longer has time to waste, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Tuesday at a news conference marking his government’s first 100 days in office. 

He said the government has been criticized the most about the fight against corruption. 

“To forgive it’s human, but crime and corruption must be punished. There are institutions that pursue these processes. Anyone who has committed crime, be it political criminals, business criminals or street criminals, should be brought to justice,” Mickoski said.

Please, be patient, the PM pleaded, the process is hard because a small group of prosecutors and judges have contaminated our judicial system. 

Officially, not a single proposal was sent until yesterday, which was the final day for sending proposals on how to reform the judiciary, Mickoski said.

“All those criticizing us, accusing us of wanting to purge the judiciary and install people affiliated with the party, now are nowhere to be found. That’s why starting today, we’re kicking off reforms in the Macedonian judicial system, because Macedonia no longer has time to waste,” he stressed. 

We’re more determined than ever, Mickoski concluded.
