PM Kovachevski to pay first official visit to Brussels
Brussels, 2 February 2022 (MIA) – North Macedonia’s Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski on Feb. 3-4 will pay a visit to Brussels, his first since taking office, to meet with top EU and NATO officials. On Thursday, Kovachevski is scheduled to meet with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. He will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani and Defence Minister Slavjanka Petrovska, MIA’s Brussels correspondent reports. After the meeting, Kovachevski and Stoltenberg will hold a joint news conference, scheduled at 9:30 am. Later in the day, the PM will meet with European Council President Charles Michel and European Parliament President Roberta Metsola. On Friday, Kovachevski is expected to have a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. He will also meet with MEPs and former enlargement commissioner Johannes Hahn. Kovachevski will not have a chance to meet with Oliver Varhelyi, the current European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, because he is on a trip. Alongside Osmani and Petrovska, PM Kovachevski will be also accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs Bojan Marichikj.
