PM Kovachevski meets Philip Morris CEO Olczak

Skopje, 21 September 2023 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski during his visit to New York met on Thursday with Jacek Olczak, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Philip Morris International.

During the meeting, it was underlined that the Republic of North Macedonia is developing into a country with an attractive investment climate, after joining NATO and open perspectives for full EU membership in a dynamic process, which provide one of the key conditions for investors, a stable and predictable investment climate.

They discussed important investments of the Philip Morris company in the Prilep Tobacco factory within the framework of the strategic partnership of the world-famous company and the factory, whereat the joint company of Philip Morris International Prilep Tobacco factory was established.

They also underscored the significance of the increased investments of Philip Morris in the modernization of production at the Prilep Tobacco factory, which started the production of large number of brands from the portfolio of Philip Morris International.

Talks focused on the planned new investments in photovoltaics, thus highlighting the importance of shared knowledge and expertise. The profit of company Philip Morris Prilep Tobacco factory increased fourfold compared to 2019 and 2020.

PM Kovachevski thanked Philip Morris International for its contribution to the development of one of the oldest companies in our country, Prilep Tobacco factory, which this year is celebrating 150th anniversary.

“The successful work of Philip Morris Prilep Tobacco factory is an important benefit in the development of the Macedonian economy and a strong message to foreign investors on favourable investment climate in our country", PM Kovachevski said.
