PM expects start of construction of another 10 MW photovoltaic power station in Oslomej
Skopje, 1 November 2022 (MIA) – Photovoltaic power stations will be the generators of North Macedonia’s energy transition. Construction of such stations, by way of public-private partnership with Power Plants of North Macedonia (ESM) and a capacity of 100 MW, is set to begin in Oslomej, and another one at 10 MW will be constructed by ESM at the same site in 2023, said Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski on Tuesday.
PM Kovachevski told reporters that several laws on strategic investments in the field are to be forwarded to the Parliament next month.
“ESM is also finalizing other projects over the construction of photovoltaic power stations in mining-power complex (REK) Bitola, at a capacity of 200-300 MW, whereas the stations at 130 MW, for which agreements were signed over the past couple of years, are to be put into operation in the next two years.
According to him, the Government is focused on investments in the energy sector, thus accelerating energy transition and independence.
“Several laws on strategic investments are to be forwarded to the Parliament next month. These include ‘Virovi’ Wind Park by German company WPD, the largest photovoltaic power station in this part of Europe, along with 400 MW-solar PV park ‘Stipion’ of French company “Akuo Energy’. In addition, a new 17 MW PV power station of Slovenian company ‘GEN-I’ opened recently near Sveti Nikole,” said Kovachevski.
The PM added that the strategic investment concept has secured over 1,000 MW in projects for photovoltaic power stations and wind parks with renowned European companies.
“We are supporting the European Green Deal on sustainable economy, turning climate and environmental challenges into opportunities and benefits for the country and its citizens,” underlined Kovachevski.
