Plenary session on role of women in Parliament

Skopje, 8 March 2024 (MIA) - On occasion of International Women's Day, a plenary session will take place in Parliament on Friday, focused on gender equality and promotion of women's rights.

The session will discuss the report on the activities and role of the Parliamentary Women's Club for enhancement of gender equality and promotion of women's rights in the Parliament over the past four years.

The session is to be attended by the President and the First Lady, the PM and Government ministers, mayors, former ministers and MPs, diplomatic corps, NGOs, international organizations working in the field of gender equality, and media, the Parliament said in a press release.

The Parliamentary Women's Club is an informal group, comprised of all lady MPs. The current Parliament composition will finish its term with 51 lady MPs out of 120. In addition, the number of women in the Parliament's staff is almost double than men, whereas Cvetanka Ivanova is the Parliament's Secretary-General.
