Petrovska-Geoană: NATO allies united on security on Alliance territory and condemnation of Russian aggression in Ukraine

Skopje, 22 March 2023 (MIA) – Member-states are united and committed to the security of the Alliance as never before, and this is clear and visible through the steps that NATO has undertaken in strengthening the transformation processes, agreed Defense Minister Slavjanka Petrovska and NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană in Brussels on Wednesday.

In the context of transformation of the Macedonian defense sector, Minister Petrovska said North Macedonia was committed since the very beginning to meeting the capability objectives through proper allocation of funds, noting that the Ministry allocates more than 30 percent of its budget for army modernization, thus demonstrating the political will in this regard, the Ministry of Defense said in a press release.

NATO’s Geoană said North Macedonia’s position was the same as that of all other allies, expressing gratitude for the country’s role in the strengthening of the Alliance’s collective security.

During the visit to the NATO HQ, Minister Petrovska also meet with the Military Committee Chair Rob Bauer, discussing the country’s contribution in multinational forces within the Enhanced Forward Presence in the eastern part of the Alliance, as well as the processes of NATO’s military transformation, reads the press release.
