Skopje, 15 June 2023 (MIA) - As part of the meeting of the North Atlantic Council (NAC) at the level of Defence Ministers at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels, North Macedonia's Defence Minister Slavjanka Petrovska held bilateral meetings with German Federal Minister of Defence, Boris Pistorius, and with Canada's Defence Minister Anita Anand. 

At the meeting with her German counterpart, Petrovska expressed satisfaction with the strong intensity of defence cooperation, pointing out that such cooperation is particularly important at a time when the European continent is faced with a number of challenges, the Ministry of Defence said in a press release. 

At a political level, Petrovska stressed that European integration is the country's top priority and thanked for the continued German support on North Macedonia's path to EU membership. 

"Talks with the Canadian Defence Minister focused on North Macedonia and Canada's joint contribution to strengthening the Alliance's security, given that members of the Army are part of NATO's multinational division in Latvia under Canadian command. The Ministers concluded that the two countries remain committed to intensifying and developing defence cooperation," reads the press release.
