Petrovska at NATO Defense Ministers meeting: Political solution for security challenges in Europe
Skopje, 16 February 2022 (MIA) – NATO Defense Ministers are united in their resolve to protect member-states and collective defense, along with the need for intensive dialogue and reaching a sustainable political solution to the crisis in and around Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense said on Wednesday. Defense Minister Slavjanka Petrovska, who took part at today’s meeting at the NATO HQ in Brussels, joined her NATO counterparts in providing strong support to Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. There is still room for peaceful overcoming of the situation through diplomatic efforts, which should result in defusing the situation on the field. NATO’s primary objective is collective defense and the meeting tackled the Alliance’s future organization in the context of strengthened support for allies in the eastern part of NATO, the Defense Ministry said in a press release. In the session dedicated to deterrence and defense, discussions focused on investments in defense, resilience capacity building and enhancement of efforts for technological innovations. At the meeting sidelines, Petrovska is set to meet with counterparts from Slovenia, Greece, Bulgaria and Turkey, reads the press release.
