Petrovska and Aggeler visit participants in multilateral exercise at ‘Ilinden’ barracks

Skopje, 30 August 2023 (MIA) – Minister of Defense Slavjanka Petrovska and the United States Ambassador to North Macedonia, Angela Aggeler, visited Wednesday the members of the special forces of the Army of North Macedonia, the Armed Forces of the US and the Army of Albania, who are jointly developing their capabilities and skills at the “Ilinden” barracks.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Defense, Petrovska said the joint exercise demonstrates the close cooperation between the NATO allies.

“I am glad that you are all training together, improving your capabilities and developing skills, thereby ensuring you are always ready to react if necessary. Continue to work together, because in that way we are much stronger, and this is something that we all rely on,” said Petrovska.

Ambassador Aggeler expressed her gratitude for the commitment of all participants in the exercise and said that, considering the threats face by the world, individual and collective readiness are more important than ever before. She said she is proud of the joint cooperation and thanked the hosts of the exercise.

“The joint exercise is being conducted at the ‘Ilinden’ barracks by combined teams of members of the armed forces of North Macedonia, the United States, and Albania, on the basis of a previously established scenario. The joint exercise boosts the operational capabilities and the readiness of the special forces. The exercise began on August 21, 2023, and will end on September 1’,” said the Ministry in the press release.
