Petkov says he expects history commission to come out with results very soon
Sofia, 31 March 2022 (MIA) – Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov said he expected the joint North Macedonia-Bulgaria history commission to come out with results very soon, MIA’s Sofia correspondent reports.
“I’ve been informed there is substantial progress. I’m glad that when both sides show spirit to work together, success is achieved,” Petkov told reporters during a visit to Blagoevgrad.
According to him, there are several key aspects, including what has been done as a mechanism against hate speech.
Petkov added that it was important what the potential negotiating framework would include, for example whether North Macedonia’s Constitution would include the rights of Bulgarians and whether the EU would agree to act as a guarantee for that.
The Bulgarian Prime Minister also said that currently the Western Balkans run the risk of being the second point of conflict over the war in Ukraine. The worst thing is that the Western Balkans are again a region at high risk of instability – both political and all kinds.
