Pendarovski receives EC Report on North Macedonia
Skopje, 12 October 2022 (MIA) – Head of the European Union Delegation to North Macedonia, Ambassador David Geer handed over the 2022 European Commission Progress Report for the country to President Stevo Pendarovski on Wednesday.
President Pendarovski said that this year’s report has a special significance because it is the first one after the beginning of the EU accession talks and the screening process, his Office said in a press release.
Pendarovski assessed that the report offers a detailed picture of the conditions in the society, but is also a roadmap for further work of the institutions and areas to which greater attention should be paid. The accession process, according to the President, requires that all capacities are aimed at the realization of the necessary reforms, and in that context, he pointed out the need for all social actors to contribute to the process.
Pendarovski said the opening of North Macedonia’s accession talks represents a chance for the European Union to demonstrate its commitment to the integration of the Western Balkan countries as the best answer to the growing Euroscepticism in the region, reads the press release. ad/ik/
