Skopje, 3 October 2022 (MIA) – President Stevo Pendarovski says the North Macedonia-Bulgaria rhetoric of late has calmed down as a result of the adopted negotiating framework. President Pendarovski told Telma TV that he wants to discuss real European themes such as economy and infrastructure with Bulgarian counterpart Rumen Radev, and has no intention to go to Sofia for history discussions. “Regardless of the post I hold in the future, I have no intention to go to Bulgaria to discuss history. We must not concentrate on history when discussing European integration. Unfortunately, Sofia turned this topic into a prerequisite for progress since 2019. I am pleased that history in the negotiating framework is mentioned only in the section related to the bilateral agreement and the commission of historians,” says Pendarovski.
