Pendarovski: Macedonian members of joint history commission would never agree to
Ohrid, 19 August 2022 (MIA) - President Stevo Pendarovski says he believes that the Macedonian members of the joint commission on historical and educational issues with Bulgaria would never agree to any "quasi-historical" or "quasi-political" arguments, such as those frequently coming from Sofia. Speaking to reporters, he was asked to comment on public backlash following the publishing of the recommendations of the history commission, saying that after any speculation or semi-information coming from Sofia in the past several months, the whole nation was trying to explain what it meant. "The recommendations were agreed three years ago and they are fully supported by all the members of the Macedonian team. If after yesterday's elaboration by the Macedonian team remains still unclear that these are only recommendations that doesn't affect our Macedonian language and identity, then for those people who still don't understand, they cannot be saved," Pendarovski told reporters. He said he has never doubted the members of the Macedonian team of the joint commission since their appointment, saying he is confident that they work to protect the Macedonian language and identity. "I also have no doubts that they might agree in the future on some quasi-historical or quasi-political arguments that come often from Sofia," Pendarovski noted.
