Skopje, 21 December 2021 (MIA) - President Stevo Pendarovski said Tuesday that in principle pardons should be granted as there are always pardon requests. According to him, theoretically speaking, 30 or 50 proposals can be received without any of them being approved. Pendarovski said that there are 5 to 6 pardons over the year, and two are mandatory on the occasion of the New Year and August 2. He added that the pardons are submitted by the prison administrations to the Ministry of Justice, from where they are forwarded to the pardoning commission in the President's Office, from where they are sent to the President. "Regardless of the previous pardon decisions of the prison administration,.. Regardless of what the Ministry of Justice proposes and regardless of what my Office’s commission submits, I can accept, and I can also refuse to pardon,” Pendarovski said.
