Pendarovski from Nebregovo: Koneski’s legacy is value anchor of our stability
Prilep, 22 October 2021 (MIA) – In a time when our support bases are seriously challenged, when we face death and suffering at global level, amid a pandemic that has distanced us from others and often times from ourselves, we must underline the importance of the value anchors that provide stability in an unstable environment. One of these is of course the legacy of philologist, linguist and visionary, Blazhe Koneski, President Stevo Pendarovski said in front of the Memorial House of Blazhe Koneski in Nebregovo.
The visit to Nebregovo was organized by the Krste Misirkov Macedonian Language Institute, under the auspices of President Stevo Pendarovski.
According to Pendarovski, Koneski has continued to be a protector of our modernity – linguistic, literary, educational and institutional.
“He was a quiet, dedicated, responsible, hard-working and calm man who should serve as an example of how we promote our joint cause now and in the future. This is exactly why we should celebrate him daily. He was a man who required no honors. His greatness was highlighted by his modesty and ascetic lifestyle. He left us a legacy of thoughts, words, emotions and language without asking for anything in return. We have a responsibility to remember Koneski’s legacy, which contains all the layers of our culture,” Pendarovski said.
We must, he underlined, fight the urge to forget, which presents a great threat in these fast-moving times.
“We must rearticulate in our present the marks of our national and cultural continuity. This event dedicated to Koneski does exactly that – it positions his legacy in the present and underlines that if we don’t look back to important historical figures and events, we won’t be able to see the options of tomorrow,” the President stressed.
On Friday, the Prilep Museum also opened Blazhe Koneski’s restored first grade classroom.
