Skopje, 3 May 2023 (MIA) - Free media are a prerequisite for an open and democratic society, where freedom of expression is a right and responsibility that can be practiced by all of us, says President Stevo Pendarovski on occasion of World Press Freedom Day.

President Pendarovski says the World Press Freedom Day, dedicated this year to freedom of expression as a driver for all other human rights, is observed amid multiple crises.

"Politicians, authorities, opposition, civil society - we all have to be united and vocal in ensuring more rights, more security and better working conditions for journalists and media workers, so they can professionally perform this responsible task. Let's inform in a timely and accurate manner, free of censorship, political or business pressure. Let's fight together with journalists against fake news, because citizens have the right to accurate, timely and checked information," says Pendarovski.
