Skopje, 7 February 2023 (MIA) – The overall relations between North Macedonia and Czechia are friendly with an intense political dialogue at a high level, President Stevo Pendarovski and the Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavský assessed at a meeting in Skopje on Tuesday.

Regarding the country’s EU aspirations, Pendarovski expressed his gratitude for the constant Czech support for the enlargement policy and in that context, they exchanged opinions on the course of the bilateral screening with the EU, his Office said in a press release.

Current developments in the Western Balkan region was also discussed at the meeting, with President Pendarovski stating that the stability and security of the region, as well as its democratic development, rely on the European perspective and he consequently pointed to the need for the EU to maintain its focus on the area.

Pendarovski and Lipavský also discussed the situation in Ukraine, NATO’s response, as well as activities of the Macedonian OSCE Chairmanship on this matter, reads the press release.
