Skopje, 22 September 2022 (MIA) – The Ministry of Health said on Thursday that a 46-year-old patient with a severe heart disease received a heart from a deceased donor and a new chance for life at the State Cardiac Surgery Clinic. Two kidney transplants are also ongoing at the Urology Clinic, with bone tumor patients to also be treated in the coming weeks. Health Minister Bekim Sali extended his gratitude to the three daughters of the donor for their decision to donate the organs in moments of great sorrow, saving not one but three lives. “Once again it has been shown that humanity and kindness are virtues that we have to keep and nurture. We would also like to thank another family of a young man who have also expressed their readiness to donate organs. These two families have put empathy over their own pain and trauma, giving several patients a chance for a new life. To the doctors and staff from all clinics and the national transplantation coordinator, who have worked tirelessly over the past 24 hours and are still on the job, thank you for your sacrifice. To the patients who received the organs, I wish you a speedy recovery,” said Minister Sali.
