Passenger plane thought missing makes emergency landing in Russia
Moscow, 16 July 2021 (dpa) — A small passenger plane made an emergency landing near the Russian city of Tomsk on Friday after it had been thought missing for more than an hour. The plane's hard landing came 10 days after a small passenger plane crashed in the far-eastern region of Kamchatka, killing all 28 people on board. On Friday, the Antonov An-28 aircraft made an emergency landing near the Siberian city, according to several Russian news agencies, citing the civil defense agency and airlines. All 19 passengers reportedly survived. The plane lost radio contact and issued a distress signal at around midday (0500 GMT). Several helicopters had searched for the plane when it was thought to be missing. In the incident last week, the plane crashed amid fog and rain in the Palana region.
