Belgrade, 24 December 2023 (dpa/MIA) - A party raft moored on the banks of the Sava river in the Serbian capital Belgrade sank overnight.

Police forces brought the 30 or so guests and staff of the venue to safety, Serbian television RTS reported on Sunday morning.

Some party guests jumped into the ice-cold water in panic, the report continued. However, no one was seriously injured.

A similar party raft sank on the Sava last New Year's Eve, but there were no injuries then either.

Belgrade lies at the confluence of the Danube and Sava rivers. There are numerous moored party rafts on the banks of the Sava, which are regarded by the city's youth as hip locations for disco and techno evenings, dinners and exuberant celebrations.
