Skopje, 29 November 2024 (MIA) – Parliamentary Committee on Defence and Security head Pavle Arovski met Friday with US Defense Attaché to North Macedonia Colonel Daniel Squyres.

Chief of the US Office for Defense Cooperation Colonel Sean Ruffolo and Political Officer at the United States Embassy in Skopje Matt Flannes also attended the meeting.

Arsovski said the committee was made up of MPs with experience in the security sector, and that a political consensus existed among members on reforms of the security sector in North Macedonia as well as excellent cooperation with the security institutions in the country.

He also expressed gratitude for the US support in the process of equipping and modernizing the Army of North Macedonia.

The guests highlighted the country’s commitment to fulfilling the obligations arising from the NATO membership, reforms for modernizing the Army, and increasing the defense budget.

They said the US support would continue with the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation and tackling the country’s future challenges in the process of EU integration and NATO membership. ssh/mr
