Skopje, 2 September 2024 (MIA) - Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi held a meeting Monday with the new Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Özlem Canel, during which they discussed the cooperation between the two countries.

According to Parliament, Speaker Gashi voiced gratitude for the assistance provided by the Netherlands in the implementation of reforms, especially related to the rule of law and aimed at realizing the country’s strategic goal of full-fledged membership in the European Union. 

“Speaker Gashi noted that North Macedonia remains firmly committed to the European agenda, stressing that the support of our partners is invaluable on that path, including the support of the Netherlands as a supporter of the process of enlargement with countries who meet the criteria,” Parliament said in a press release. 

Gashi and Canel also exchanged opinions over the opportunities for further enhancement of the parliamentary cooperation between the two countries and the need to strengthen the political dialogue in the legislature.
