Parliament Speaker Gashi meets Italian Ambassador Silvestri

Skopje, 11 June 2024 (MIA) - Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi held a meeting Tuesday with the Italian Ambassador to North Macedonia, Andrea Silvestri, during which they discussed the current activities of Parliament, the upcoming establishment of the committees and other working bodies, as well as the expectations over a swift formation of the new government.
“Gashi noted that as a responsible Speaker he will remain open for cooperation with all political parties represented in Parliament, since they all need to work for the good of the citizens and the country as a whole. In the context of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries, the Speaker noted he values highly the cooperation with Italy, which is a strong supporter of North Macedonia on its Euro-integration path,” Parliament said in a press release.
Ambassador Silvestri informed Gashi over the existing relations in the field of interparliamentary cooperation and voiced hope that the successful cooperation will continue in the future with the establishment of the parliamentary group for cooperation with the Italian Parliament.
According to the press release, Silvestri congratulated Gashi over his election as Speaker of Parliament, wishing him success in his work. He also conveyed a message of congratulations from the President of the Italian Senate, Ignazio La Russa.
“Gashi and Silvestri also exchanged opinions over the future legislative agenda, the country’s focus on Euro-integrations and Parliament’s role in that process, maintaining constructive and friendly relations with all neighbors and building bridges for cooperation with the countries of the entire region,” Parliament said.
