Skopje, 13 June 2024 (MIA) - Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi met Thursday with German Ambassador Petra Drexler and thanked her for the German proactive approach and support for the country's strategic goals - NATO and EU membership.
Speaker Gashi also highlighted the initiative and activities of the Berlin Process, including the recent parliamentary dimension and support from the German Special Representative for the Western Balkans, Manuel Sarrazin, the Parliament said in a press release.
He also highlighted the Bundestag's resolution for North Macedonia's EU path and recognition of Macedonian culture, identity and language as an important segment of the intense cooperation on all levels between both parliaments, the International Parliamentary Scholarship supporting young students, the Friedrich Ebert and Konrad Adenauer foundations.
Ambassador Drexler congratulated Gashi and wished him success in the post during these challenging times, while reaffirming the excellent cooperation between the two counties and parliaments and expressing gratitude for the country's approach to the International Parliamentary Scholarship programme, as well as programs of the German foundations.
Drexler spoke about the Berlin Process' 10th anniversary and the Berlin Summit, and wished that a parliamentary delegation from the country will get to be part of it. The Ambassador expressed hope that the country will stay on its European integration path and fulfill all necessary requirements.
Interlocutors also exchanged opinions on future opportunities for cooperation and potential in the domain of economy, development of market economy, and other areas of mutual interest, reads the press release. ssh/ik/
