Seoul, 27 December 2023 (dpa/MIA) - South Korean actor Lee Sun-kyun of the Academy Award-winning thriller "Parasite" was found dead in Seoul on Wednesday, local media reported.

Police initially discovered a man sitting unconscious in a car in a park in the capital Seoul on Wednesday morning, South Korean broadcasters and the national news agency Yonhap reported. He was later identified as the 48-year-old actor. Police have not ruled out suicide.

Lee was being investigated on suspicions of using illegal drugs.

Lee was already a well-known actor in South Korea before the global success of "Parasite." The 2019 film by Bong Joon-ho collected four Academy Awards and made Oscars history as the first foreign language winner of best picture.
