Over 1,8 million people eligible to vote in October local elections
Skopje, 24 September 2021 (MIA) – A total of 1,824,864 people are eligible to vote in the October 17 local elections after the State Election Commission (SEC) members at Friday’s 27th session adopted a decision on concluding the electoral roll, which was opened to the public to report changes or updates. Of the total number, 1,740,147 are voters. According to the register of people working or staying temporarily abroad, there are 82,461 voters and 1,899 are serving time or are in detention. Also, 351 voters are registered as being accommodates in institutions outside their homes and six voters are internally displaced persons, announced SEC vice president Ditmire Shehu. Also, SEC members will discuss the content of the ballot, which is an item on the agenda, at a closed session. Boris Kondarko said that it is a practice implemented in several election processes. “SEC decides about the content of the ballot and SEC regulates ballot protections, which are visible and invisible. To protect the integrity, secrecy and regularity of the entire process, this part of the session will be behind closed doors,” he explained.
