Over 10,000 dead in Gaza, Hamas-run Health Ministry says

Gaza/Tel Aviv, 6 November 2023 (dpa/MIA) - The number of Palestinians killed in the Gaza Strip since the start of the war between the militant Hamas movement and Israel has risen to 10,022, according to the Hamas-controlled Health Ministry.

More than 25,000 people have been injured, the ministry said on Monday.

Thousands of women, children and young people were among the dead.

The figures cannot be independently verified.

This is by far the largest number of deaths among Palestinians during a war in the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The war was triggered by the worst massacre in Israel's history, carried out by terrorists on behalf of Hamas who broke through the border with Gaza and entered Israel on October 7.

On the Israeli side, more than 1,400 people were killed, including many women, children and young people.
