Osmani: US blacklist an exceptionally important instrument in our joint fight against corruption

Skopje, 18 November 2023 (MIA) – It’s not true that we aren’t acting, said Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani in response to a journalist’s question if the Government is doing anything after the “blacklisting” of new Macedonian nationals and their businesses by the United States.
“The Ministry has already communicated with the institutions in charge of financial circulation in the country in order to adopt measures restricting the flow of funds for those companies that are mentioned on the blacklist. But, if additional measures are necessary, like the example with the law, I am fully in favor. We support, and we encourage the US administration to continue with this instrument because it is exceptionally important for our joint fight against corruption,” said Osmani, asked to comment on Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski’s proposal for a regulation banning blacklisted businesses from taking part in public procurement procedures.
