Osmani proposes fixed quotas for people under 27 on lists of MPs

Tetovo, 6 April 2024 (MIA) - As part of his campaign activities, European Front’s presidential candidate Bujar Osmani participated Saturday in a debate in Tetovo on keeping young people in the country.

At a press conference after the event, Osmani said he met with youth activists from Tetovo to discuss the issue of brain drain in the country, i.e., the emigration of young people as well as the youth’s readiness for all challenges brought about by technological development and artificial intelligence.

“As president, I would establish presidential regional youth councils so that young people from various regions directly participate in the creation of national policies. They will be coordinated by an advisor of the president who will be focused on youth policies. I think this is very important in order to hear the voice of young people, especially in these circumstances of dynamic development of the world where without the perspective of the youth we won’t be able to understand nor keep up with the dramatic development of the world,” Osmani said.

The presidential candidate proposed fixed quotas in the parties’ lists of MPs for young people under 27. This, he said, is necessary in order to raise the awareness of the public, of politics, society and the state that without youth perspective there cannot be a complete perspective of the world and policies.

“As president, I will propose that every third candidate on the list of MPs is a young person between 18 and 27. Every committee formed by the local governments, by the institutions, ministries, government, Parliament, should be obligated to involve young people under 28 as well, so that their perspective is included from the very beginning of the policymaking process,” Bujar Osmani said.
