Skopje, 11 April 2024 (MIA) — If elected President, European Front coalition presidential candidate Bujar Osmani said Thursday he would form a board of local and foreign experts tasked with vetting all environmental protection laws and projects to guarantee that all of them were sustainable.

Osmani said there was an unbreakable link between the environment and national security and urged voters to support a green agenda prioritizing environmental protection.

"This board will make sure I do not sign into law anything harmful to the environment. Economic growth cannot happen at the cost of the environment and future generations. We have to leave behind not only a European and economic state but also a green and sustainable one," Osmani said.

He said this pledge of his was based on the President's authority to refuse assent to a legislative bill by not signing it into law. mr/
