Ohrid, 16 June 2022 (MIA) - Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani said Thursday regarding the French proposal aimed to lift the Bulgarian veto on North Macedonia that the proposal must first be aligned by member-states with Skopje then responding to it.
“We first have to see the proposal aligned by all member-states and then communicate our position on it. We will comment on a position supported by all member-states,” FM Osmani told a press conference ahead of the Prespa Forum Dialogue in Ohrid.
According to him, political developments in Bulgaria are not encouraging while adding that North Macedonia is following the path traced by the French Presidency.
“If France assesses that developments in Sofia allow for continuation of the steps in order to catch this June train, we will be part of the process once there is a position coordinated by all EU member-states,” said Osmani.
France is set to deliver the official proposal on lifting the veto, which Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov will forward to the country’s parliament.
