Osmani meets Schallenberg in Vienna to discuss OSCE activities

Skopje, 11 January 2023 (MIA) North Macedonia's 2023 Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe chairpersonship activities were the topic of the Vienna meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs Bujar Osmani as OSCE chairman and Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ministers exchanged opinions on the latest developments in the OSCE region as well as the world's largest regional security organization’s role in dealing with the consequences of the Russian Federation's aggression against Ukraine.

“The war of aggression against Ukraine goes on and people are the first to feel the strife caused by today's geopolitical turmoil.

“Those directly exposed to war and conflict have suffered the most.

“Others have been facing insecurity and uncertainty. Their way of life questioned; their daily life disrupted. Their fear of war should be eliminated,” Osmani told Shallenberg at the meeting, the release says.

They also discussed ways of supporting OSCE institutions working to restore peace and security, preventing future conflicts, and promoting cooperation across the OSCE region.

“The Republic of Austria is a long-standing partner of North Macedonia in the OSCE and a strong and vocal supporter in its European integration,” the release adds. mr/
