Skopje, 6 July 2023 (MIA) – Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani said late on Thursday that the final preparations are being made for the constitutional amendments and that he expects that they will be soon submitted to the Parliament.

“Final preparations are being made. I expect it to be soon. The timing is set to be acceptable, that is, in order to help the debate and discussion. I think that the submission itself will be an important moment, because I expect that then we will have a substantial debate regarding the content of the amendments,” Osmani said in an interview with Kanal 5 TV.

According to him, that moment is very important for the Government to send the amendments and for the Government to start a debate on the content of the amendments. “If we lose in that debate, that is, the citizens are convinced that these are bad formulations, that is fair. However, we need to slowly cut out those layers of propaganda to get to the heart of the constitutional amendments,” Osmani added.

What we are seeing now regarding the constitutional amendments, according to him, is party politics. Osmani said that the citizens do not know the essence of the content of the constitutional amendments.

“We are conducting a survey of public opinion. Citizens are surprised when they face the text. Most of them are surprised that it is completely different from what they hear on television,” Osmani said.
