Osmani holds phone call with Kuleba on Ukraine’s Independence Day
Skopje, 24 August 2022 (MIA) – North Macedonia’s Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani held a phone call on Wednesday with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day.
“Extending sincere congratulations on the national day, Minister Osmani expressed support to the struggle of the Ukrainian people, which is also a struggle for our common modern and democratic values, as well as protection of the international order,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.
The Macedonian Foreign Minister stressed that in these difficult times for the Ukrainian and European security, North Macedonia voices strong support for Ukraine and stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian people in their struggle to restore peace and overcome the consequences of the Russian aggression.
“In defending their homeland, Ukrainians are not only fighting for their freedom, but the freedom of the whole democratic world and the common European values,” Osmani pointed out.
Osmani reaffirmed the country’s firm and uncompromising support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, adds the press release.
“Osmani strongly condemned the Russian military invasion, which is a blatant violation of international law and an attempt to undermine the foundations of European and global security and stability. In that context, he stressed that North Macedonia, as a member of the NATO Alliance, has taken a series of steps and measures in response to the Russian military actions,” reads the press release.
Osmani and Kuleba, the press release adds, also discussed the European prospects of the two countries, particularly in terms of security implications for the European continent, as well as beyond, in the context of the new geopolitical reality.
