Osmani - Fidan: N. Macedonia - Turkey trade exceeds $1 billion 

Skopje, 23 September 2023 (MIA) – Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani met with the Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on the sidelines of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

Osmani expressed satisfaction with the overall relations between the two countries and voiced commitment to further strengthen cooperation, in line with the 2008 strategy for strengthening bilateral relations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.

“In addition to regular meetings and dialogue, it is in the interest of both countries to continue the positive dynamics in economic cooperation as well. Turkey was our seventh-largest trade partner last year with $1 billion of exchange,” Osmani said, underscoring the importance attached to the presence of Turkish companies and investments in North Macedonia.

They also discussed regional cooperation and cooperation within NATO and OSCE, as well as the current challenges in the region of the Western Balkans and the consequences of Russian military aggression in Ukraine, reads the press release.
