Osmani: European perspective of Western Balkans – safest investment in region’s stability
Skopje, 1 December 2021 (MIA) – Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani told a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Riga on Wednesday that joint and strategic actions by NATO and EU in the Western Balkans are the basic prerequisite for the region’s stability and prosperity. Over the past two days, FMs discussed issues of strategic importance for the Alliance, such as the situation in Afghanistan, current and future security challenges, Russia’s military build-up near the Ukraine border and hybrid threats coming from Belarus, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release. Ministers also tackled developments in the Western Balkans and NATO’s geostrategic interest for a stable, progressive and democratic region through reaffirmation of the European and Euro-Atlantic prospects of countries in the area. In addition, they tackled the NATO Strategic Concept document over the Alliance’s future geostrategic role. At the meeting sidelines, FM Osmani met with US Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried, and counterparts Anze Logar of Slovenia, Anniken Huitfeldt of Norway, Jean-Yves Le Drian of France and Jakub Kulhanek of the Czech Republic, reads the press release.
